All taxis are fitted with the latest technology including:

 

  • Fitted alarm systems for driver safety;
  • Security cameras;
  • Satellite navigation; and
  • Remote control booking acceptance.

 

To be eligible to apply for an WAT driver you must:

  • Currently hold a NSW Taxi Council Driver ID Card;
  • have lived in Albury/Wodonga for at least 6 months;
  • have held an unrestricted driver licence issued in any Australian state or territory, for a total of at least 12 months in the previous 2 years;
  • are an Australian or New Zealand Citizen, permanent resident, or hold a visa allowing you to work in Australia;
  • are at least 20 years old;
  • are medically fit to drive a Passenger Transport Vehicle. To apply download a copy of the Application for a Passenger Transport Licence Code and submit through Services NSW (NSW Drivers only);
  • Competent understanding of the English language;
  • Have no criminal or serious driving offences; and
  • Are a good fit for Albury Taxis.

 

To become a WATS driver with the Albury Taxis network the following training is compulsory:

  • Completed WATS Driver training with one of our qualified Assessors.
  • Observe with one of our WAT drivers – minimum 3 observations;
  • Dispatch Training (SmartMove) – 2 hours;
  • Local knowledge test – 1 hour; and
  • Safety Management System Assessment – 15 minutes.
